Baby Bear Hugs Free Quilt Pattern by Kathryn Wagar Wright
Baby Bear Hugs combines five appliqued bears with pieced fabric patches and striped inner borders in a 53-by-63-inch quilt. The Flannel Bear collection supplies separate blue and pink fabric choices for the same design. Fusible web attaches the bears to interfaced background patches, and embroidery adds their facial and ear details. The embroidery may be completed before assembly or after layering, when it can also serve as quilting. Wide binding finishes the quilt.

Baby Bear Hugs Free Quilt Pattern by Kathryn Wagar Wright quilt pattern summary
- Cut the patches and borders, noting the direction of the striped fabric. Interface the five bear backgrounds and use the full-size template to prepare the bears for fusible applique.
- Center and fuse the bears to their backgrounds. Embroider their features now or after layering, then join the patches into rows and sew the rows together.
- Add the striped inner borders and the remaining borders with their corner patches. Piece the backing, layer and quilt, complete any remaining bear embroidery, and finish with wide binding.
