Ballerina Twirl Free Quilt Pattern by Lisa Swenson Ruble quilt pattern summary
- Make the pieced border blocks by sewing marked squares onto the corners of the larger squares. Trim the seam allowances and press the corners open, following the fabric placement for your chosen version.
- Trace the bow, dress, shoes and heart templates onto fusible web. Fuse them to the applique fabric, cut out the shapes, then fuse each to a background square and secure it with decorative stitching.
- Add the narrow fabric strips to opposite sides of the fussy-cut center square. Sew the remaining strips to the top and bottom to complete the framed center.
- Join the pieced blocks into the left and right border rows and attach them to the center. Combine pieced and applique blocks for the top and bottom borders, checking their orientation before sewing.
- Layer the completed top with batting and backing, then baste and quilt as desired. Join the binding strips and bind the quilt edges to finish.
