Celestial Sunrise Free Quilt Pattern by Marsha Evans Moore
Celestial Sunrise combines paper-pieced arcs, curved seams and triangle blocks in a 61 x 77 inch quilt. Marsha Evans Moore designed this intermediate project with the Baliscapes: Morocco batik collection. Pointed arcs are joined to quarter-circle centers and outer corners, while simpler curved blocks and triangle blocks provide additional variations. The blocks are organized into vertical rows and surrounded by three borders. Full-size templates and paper-piecing foundations accompany the assembly diagrams.

- Prepare the template pieces, border strips and binding using the cutting chart. Paper piece the pointed arcs with the fabric combinations shown.
- Mark the centers of the curved edges, pin the centers and ends, and ease the pieces together. Join the arcs, quarter circles and corners, then make the triangle blocks.
- Arrange the blocks in six vertical rows, following the layout and block orientations. Join the rows and add the three border rounds in order.
- Layer the top with batting and backing, baste and quilt as desired. Finish the edge with fabric G binding.
