Dill Pickles Free Quilt Pattern by Christine Stainbrook
Dill Pickles combines curved units with pointed, pieced arcs in a 60-by-72-inch quilt. Christine Stainbrook’s design features the Baliscapes: Violet Gem batiks and includes both foundation paper piecing and traditional template piecing instructions. Thirty blocks are arranged with changing orientations, joining the curved shapes into the illustrated layout. Each block pairs two pieced arcs with a central shape, small corner squares and background pieces before the blocks are joined into the quilt top.

- Choose foundation paper piecing or traditional piecing, then cut the corresponding pieces. Assemble the split background template and check the printed one-inch scale marks before cutting.
- Piece the two foundation sections into each arc, removing the paper afterward, or sew the traditional template pieces in the illustrated sequence. Make the arcs for thirty blocks.
- Join the arcs to the central curved piece, adding the small squares to the ends of one arc. Sew on the background pieces and square each block to 12½ inches.
- Arrange and sew the blocks using the layout, watching their rotations. Layer, baste and quilt, then bind with the Fabric I strips.
