Forest Spirit Oblong Pillows Free Pattern by LJ Simon - Free Quilt Pattern
Forest Spirit Oblong Pillows uses the center sections of a Forest Spirit panel to make two 22 by 12 inch pillows. LJ Simon designed the covers with Felice Regina’s prints, pairing the panel images with Persimmon and Pine fabrics. Narrow side strips complete each pillow face, while two hemmed backing pieces overlap to create the opening. The pattern repeats the same construction for both pillows and uses ready-made oblong pillow inserts.

- Cut the center panel sections, side strips and backing rectangles for both pillows. Keep the Persimmon and Pine pieces together with their corresponding panel sections.
- Sew a narrow strip to each end of the pillow face, pressing the seams toward the strips. Hem the designated edges of the larger and smaller backing rectangles.
- Overlap the backing rectangles with the smaller piece on top and secure the ends. Sew the face and backing right sides together around the outside edge.
- Clip the corner seam allowances, turn the cover and press it. Insert the pillow form, then repeat the same construction for the second pillow.
