Haunted Whiskers Free Quilt Pattern by Wendy Sheppard
Haunted Whiskers combines five styles of pieced book blocks with three appliqued cats. Wendy Sheppard designed the 80-by-96-inch quilt with Lenore fabrics, arranging twenty book blocks in five rows with sashing between them. Some books stand straight while template-shaped pieces create tilted volumes in other blocks. The cats add eyes, noses and tail details to the assembled bookshelf arrangement, and three borders frame the center before the quilt is layered, quilted and bound.

Haunted Whiskers Free Quilt Pattern by Wendy Sheppard quilt pattern summary
- Prepare the labeled book and background pieces, including the templates for the tilted books. Piece the five block styles and make the quantities assigned to each.
- Join the blocks into five rows of four with sashing between the blocks and rows. Prepare and attach the three cats and their smaller applique details in the illustrated positions.
- Attach the three borders in order, then layer the quilt with backing and batting. Quilt the completed top and finish with the designated binding fabric.
