I Fight For Freedom Free Quilt Pattern by Sue Pickering & Jean Katherine Smith
I Fight For Freedom by Jean Katherine Smith and Sue Pickering uses the Freedom collection to build a flag-centered quilt measuring thirty-six inches square. Red and cream strip sets form the flag stripes, and a navy star rectangle completes the flag unit. Setting pieces surround that center before cream word-print borders and navy outer borders are added. The instructions allow leftover cream and navy border fabric to be combined for the backing.

- Fussy-cut the word-print border strips and prepare the red, cream and navy pieces. Keep the star rectangle and setting pieces separate from the stripe strips.
- Sew the short red-and-cream stripe set and join it to the navy star rectangle. Make the longer stripe set and attach it below to complete the flag unit.
- Add the setting triangles and larger red rectangle around the flag section. Attach the cream word-print borders and then the navy outer borders as illustrated.
- Prepare the backing, using leftover cream and navy border fabric if desired. Layer with batting, quilt the top and finish with the red binding.
