An optional wool-felt version is also included, alongside the heart template and instructions for finishing the mat.

- Trim the panel as directed, then layer it with batting and backing. Baste the layers and quilt as desired.
- Bind the quilted panel using the specified B strips.
- Prepare the full heart template and mark both outlines on one fabric square. Layer it with batting and the second square, then stitch inside the outer outline and outside the inner outline.
- Use pinking shears to cut beyond the outer stitching and inside the inner stitching through all three layers. Alternatively, make the marker from one layer of wool felt.
