Uh oh, a spool is unraveling! Refresh and try again.
Description:

On the Wind uses contrasting fabric values to create movement across a diagonal quilt setting. Each block combines four pieced quadrants, while related triangle units complete the edges. Sashing and cornerstones connect the blocks without adding an outer border. Kerri Thomson draws the design from dandelions moving on a spring day, using Yellow Palette fabrics by Tim Holtz. The advanced-beginner project finishes at 73 1/2 inches square and includes guidance for sorting light, medium and dark fabric pieces.

On the Wind Free Quilt Pattern by Kerri Thomson quilt pattern summary

  1. Cut the fabric pieces and mark the small squares. Sew and flip them onto opposite corners of the larger squares, cut the diagonal, and sort the resulting triangles by value.
  2. Join rectangles to contrasting triangles, trim their angled edges and pair them with the first triangle units. Sew four quadrants together for each of the twenty-four blocks.
  3. Piece the sixteen setting triangles, then arrange the blocks, setting units and sashing into the specified block rows and cornerstone rows.
  4. Join the rows into two quilt halves and connect them across the center sashing row. Add the corner triangles, then layer, quilt and bind.
