Description:

Heidi Pridemore uses Sara Franklin’s State Panels collection for a coordinating Oregon quilt, pillow and tote. The quilt measures 40 x 40 inches and surrounds a framed panel with pieced borders. A smaller panel image becomes an 18-inch square pillow with overlapping back panels, while another is framed for a 14-inch square lined tote with fabric straps. One panel supplies the images for all three projects, which have their own fabric lists and assembly instructions.

  1. Fussy-cut the quilt panel and add its frame. Piece the triangle units and assemble the inner and outer borders in the sequence shown around the center.
  2. Layer and quilt the quilt top, then attach the Fabric C binding.
  3. Frame the pillow panel and add the pieced borders. Quilt the pillow front, hem the two back panels and sew the overlapping backs to the front before inserting the pillow form.
  4. Frame the tote panel and sew the outer bag and lining separately. Make and attach the folded fabric straps, join the lining to the bag, then turn through the lining opening and close it.
