Out of the Shadows combines dark, medium and light fabrics from Nancy Gere’s Shades of Grey collection in a quilt designed by Sue Harvey and Sandy Boobar of Pine Tree Country Quilts. Small squares are stitched to opposite corners of larger squares before the units are cut diagonally and paired into center and edge blocks. Long block rows are joined with contrasting sashing strips, followed by a narrow inner border and a wider floral outer border.

- Cut the fabric squares, sashing and border strips. Mark diagonals on the small squares, stitch them to opposite corners of the larger squares and cut the units apart.
- Pair light and dark triangle units for the center blocks, then pair medium and dark units for the edge blocks. Arrange the blocks in the specified long rows.
- Join the block rows with sashing and add the inner and outer borders. Piece the backing, layer with batting, quilt, trim and bind.
