Description:

Pocket Full of Posies by Jean K. Smith and Sue Pickering is a 64 by 79 inch quilt featuring the Dover Flannel collection by Rosemarie Lavin Design. Fussy-cut floral centers are surrounded by corner triangles, then arranged diagonally with coral background squares. Setting triangles complete the outside edges of the center. A coral inner border and wider floral outer border frame the blocks, and the construction includes pressing guidance for managing the thickness of flannel seams.

Pocket Full of Posies Free Quilt Pattern by Sue Pickering & Jean Katherine Smith quilt pattern summary

  1. Fussy-cut the floral centers and cut the corner triangles, background squares and setting pieces. Starch the coral setting fabric before cutting to help control the diagonal edges.
  2. Sew corner triangles around each floral center. Lay out the complete quilt, alternating pieced blocks and background squares in diagonal rows with the setting triangles.
  3. Join the diagonal rows to complete the center. Add the side inner borders, then the top and bottom inner borders, and repeat for the outer border.
  4. Prepare the backing, make the quilt sandwich and quilt as desired. Bind the finished quilt.
