Uh oh, a spool is unraveling! Refresh and try again.
Description:

Raindrops and Rainbows alternates cloud applique blocks with pieced patchwork in a 48.25 x 57-inch quilt. Marsha Evans Moore designed the project for Maria Carluccio’s Rain or Shine collection. Large and small clouds occupy separate background blocks, and the pattern supports either turned-edge or fusible applique. Narrow sashing with contrasting corner squares separates the block rows. Three surrounding borders complete the layout, including a wider printed border between two narrower ones.

Raindrops and Rainbows Free Quilt Pattern by Marsha Evans Moore quilt pattern summary

  1. Print the cloud templates at 100% and prepare the shapes for the chosen applique method. Position and stitch them onto their background blocks, then remove the excess background behind them as directed.
  2. Sew the marked corner squares onto the print squares, trim and press them. Join the resulting units in pairs and then into the two illustrated patchwork block arrangements.
  3. Alternate the cloud and patchwork blocks with narrow sashing to make the two row types. Join the block rows and sashing rows, then add all three border rounds.
  4. Layer the quilt top with batting and backing, baste and quilt as desired. Finish with Fabric J binding.
