Uh oh, a spool is unraveling! Refresh and try again.
Description:

Rhododendron Stars Bolster turns forty-two fabric hexagons into a fitted cover for a neck-roll pillow. Fussy cutting centers the printed motifs before the pieces are basted around paper hexagons and joined by hand. The hexagons are arranged in diagonal groups, then sewn into a tube. Liza Lucy provides two approaches for covering the insert ends, followed by decorative buttons and a blind-stitched outer cover. The finished bolster is described as 16 inches long and 19 1/2 inches in circumference.

Rhododendron Stars Bolster Free Pattern by Liza Lucy quilt pattern summary

  1. Fussy cut forty-two hexagons with the acrylic template so that a motif is centered in each piece. Thread baste or glue baste the fabric around the paper shapes.
  2. Whipstitch matching hexagon edges into the diagonal groups, following the placement diagram without sewing through the papers. Join the rows, press and remove the papers.
  3. Whipstitch the short ends together to form the cover tube and turn it right side out. Cover the insert ends using either the fabric-circle method or the separate gathered lining tube.
  4. Secure the covered ends and add the decorative buttons. Slide the hexagon cover over the pillow form and blind stitch its edge hexagons to the lining.
