Uh oh, a spool is unraveling! Refresh and try again.
Description:

Sand Dollar Quilt & Pillows uses pieced equilateral triangles to form hexagon arrangements in Mendocino prints. Josie Kate Snyder’s design includes an 80-by-96-inch quilt and coordinating pillows made from leftover triangles. Wide and narrow fabric strips are joined before the triangle shapes are cut, changing where the contrasting fabric appears within each hexagon. The pillows use fused interfacing, center buttons and stuffing, while fabric remaining from the quilt cuts supplies its binding.

Sand Dollar Quilt & Pillows Free Quilt Pattern by Josie Kate Snyder quilt pattern summary

  1. Make the equilateral-triangle template, cut the wide and narrow strips and join each strip pair with the offset described in the instructions.
  2. Cut triangles from the pieced strip sets, alternating the narrow-strip position, then arrange and sew them into the illustrated half-hexagon rows.
  3. Join the rows as columns to complete the quilt, quilt as desired and prepare binding from the remaining fabric.
  4. For the pillows, fuse interfacing to leftover triangles, piece the hexagon faces and sew paired faces with an opening. Add center buttons, stuff and close the opening by hand.
