Songbird Free Quilt Pattern by Barbara Campbell
Songbird pairs salmon and teal bird prints with striped and floral patchwork in a 38-inch-square quilt. Barbara Campbell’s beginner-level pattern features five blocks built around stripe-print centers and four blocks with larger bird-print centers, each finishing at ten inches. A narrow salmon stripe border surrounds the center, followed by a pieced border of floral squares and teal rectangles. Teal stripe binding completes the design, with an optional allover swirl and leaf quilting treatment.

- Cut the bird-print centers, stripe triangles and floral squares. Piece five Block A units by surrounding each salmon stripe center with the designated triangle sets.
- Make four Block B units with teal corner units around the salmon bird-print centers. Join the blocks into rows and add the narrow salmon stripe border.
- Piece and attach the floral-square and teal-rectangle outer borders. Layer and quilt the top, then apply the folded teal stripe binding with mitered corners and hand-stitch it to the back.
