Uh oh, a spool is unraveling! Refresh and try again.
Description:

Sun Day Afternoon surrounds Sunnyside feature squares with pieced frames made from small accent squares, strips and white triangles. Yellow, pink and turquoise frame variations distinguish the different feature prints. The completed blocks sit in diagonal rows with white sashing and fussy-cut sun squares at the intersections. Setting triangles finish the outer edges, and coordinating turquoise fabric provides both the backing and binding for a quilt that keeps its framed prints at the center of the design.

Sun Day Afternoon Free Quilt Pattern by Stacey Day quilt pattern summary

  1. Cut the feature squares and white triangles, and fussy-cut the small sun squares for the sashing accents. Sew triangles around the small colored squares to begin the frame pieces.
  2. Sew and crosscut the colored strip sets, add white triangles to their ends and join them to the first frame units. Attach matching pairs around the feature squares to make eighteen Framed Blocks.
  3. Add white sashing to the blocks and arrange them with the remaining rectangles, triangles and sun squares in diagonal rows. Join the rows with careful attention to the setting-triangle orientation.
  4. Layer and baste the top, batting and backing. Quilt as desired, join the turquoise binding strips with diagonal seams and secure the binding around the quilt.
