Uh oh, a spool is unraveling! Refresh and try again.
Description:

Sun, Moon and Stars combines blanket-stripe blocks, square-in-square patchwork and appliqued shapes in a 34 by 40 inch quilt. Susan McDermott’s design uses Nancy Gere’s Santa Fe collection, with fat eighths and fat quarters supplying varied prints. The blocks are arranged in diagonal rows with setting triangles, while alternating brown and blue half-square-triangle units form the border. Twelve applique blocks repeat the sun, moon and star shapes across the quilt.

  1. Enlarge the stripe template and applique shapes as directed. Cut the stripe pieces, light and blue triangles, square-in-square pieces and applique backgrounds.
  2. Piece the blanket-stripe and square-in-square blocks, then applique the shapes onto the light background squares. Make four applique blocks with each shape.
  3. Arrange the blocks in diagonal rows, adding setting and corner triangles to complete the center. Make the alternating brown and blue triangle borders, attach them, then layer, quilt and bind.
