Vegetable Free Quilt Pattern by Jane Sassaman
Vegetable brings large garden prints together around a framed pumpkin center, with template-cut star points and carefully placed pea motifs. Jane Sassaman designed this intermediate quilt with her Vegetable Patch collection. Fussy cutting controls how the vegetables and flowers meet across the blocks and borders, including cabbage-print strips around the outside. The quilt measures 46 inches square and uses both square and rectangular block components, with small printed cornerstones linking the successive border frames.

- Print and assemble the star-point and center-triangle templates. Plan the motif placement, then fussy cut the garden prints and prepare the remaining border and binding pieces.
- Frame the pumpkin square and piece the four star-point blocks. Arrange these with the large pea-print squares in three rows, then join the rows.
- Add the middle borders and their small cornerstones. Position and trim the cabbage-print outer borders, then add them with the larger corner squares.
- Join the binding strips, layer and quilt, and trim the extra batting and backing. Attach the binding and hand stitch it to the back.
