The wall hanging combines house fronts with an appliqued hillside and small houses, surrounded by two borders. Two placemats use other house sections, roof pieces and sky strips from the same panel. The wall hanging measures 24.75 by 26 inches, and each placemat measures 12 by 16 inches. The projects are quilted separately and finished with green word-print binding.

Wall Hanging & Placemats Free Pattern by Heidi Pridemore quilt pattern summary

  1. Fussy cut the house, roof and sky pieces from the panel. Prepare the hill templates and cut the borders, corner squares, binding and backing pieces for both projects.
  2. Fuse the hills and small houses to the sky strip and secure their edges with decorative stitching. Join the house fronts, add the sky section and attach the two wall-hanging borders.
  3. For each placemat, sew a roof above the house-side piece and add the sky strips. Repeat to make the second placemat.
  4. Layer and quilt each project. Join the green strips for binding, dividing the placemat binding as directed, and bind the edges.
